COVID Relief
Democrats look ahead
Democrats have introduced budget reconciliation, allowing them to fast track President Biden’s 1.9 trillion dollar aid bill without needing republican/authoritarian votes. They don’t want to work with the Democratic Party. They have never wanted to work with the Democrats. It is why so many members of their caucus told lies about the election. Suppose the republican/authoritarian movement was serious about working with Democrats on COVID relief. In that case, they’d support convicting Trump for his crimes. They’d vote for expelling members who entertained the big lie.
What is Budget Reconciliation, one might be wondering? Budget Reconciliation would allow Democrats to pass the bill, and any bill is going forward through Budget Reconciliation using 51 Senate votes instead of the 60 vote threshold that is currently necessary. A better idea, rather than having to handle things through the reconciliation method, which requires a measure by both the Senate and the House, would be eliminating the filibuster.
A note on the language used in the above: So I’ve decided as we advance that we must be honest when referring to the Republican Party, they are a clear and present authoritarian movement in America. If we are unwilling to assign the appropriate language to them, we will be reluctant to engage in the truth. I am not saying everyone in the Republican Party is an authoritarian. Some wish to rid it of its authoritarian strain. Still, until the party is entirely rid of that strain, we must engage in the truth.
