Green lighting a coup
They green lighted a coup. Republican Senators have voted to acquit Former President Trump of inciting an insurrection. The evidence was damning against Mr. Trump including phone calls that Trump had with House minority leader McCarthy in which case McCarthy asked for then President Trump to call off his supporters. Mr. Trump refused, rather delighting in the violence that he watched on his television set in the White House. Mr. Trump has now been given a green light by Republicans to run for office again, and if he loses they’ve given him a green light to incite another violent coup attempt.
Some Republicans joined Democrats in voting to convict the disgraced president, their names are Senators Romney, Collins, Murkowski, Sasse, Burr, Cassidy, and Toomey. Some of these Senators enjoy the liberation of not seeking another term others have won reelection in the previous cycle and won’t be up for reelection in another six years.
As we move forward as a nation we cannot afford to turn a blind eye to those who voted to allow for another coup. It is my hope that going forward the Democratic Party will immediately establish a fund to challenge all of those who voted to acquit the former president, and endangered our way of life.
Republicans will attempt to claim that the impeachment proceeding was not constitutionally grounded, Donald Trump was impeached while he was still in office then Senate Majority Leader McConnell refused to hold an impeachment proceeding.
The Last Call: Senators who voted to impeach represented 61.6 percent of Americans, those who chose to acquit represent 38.2 percent of Americans. This shows the flaws of the Senate.
