Ground Zero
For Democracy
Edition # 61
Date: 5/22/2022
Here we are in the Commonwealth of PA, my home state, and the state ground zero for Democracy come November.
It is morally wrong and strategically stupid to claim that Mastriano can't win. He absolutely can win in November. Democrats, be warned. Since Mastriano is the Republican nominee for Governor, the individual has promised such things as making every Pennsylvanian re-register to vote. A task that would require an act passed by the state legislature and would almost immediately create headaches for those working in County Election Offices. The Governor of Pennsylvania can appoint the Secretary of State, the office that oversees the elections. In other words, if Mastriano wins and the person running for President in 2024 doesn't win the popular and electoral votes of Pennsylvania, Mastriano would have the ability to ensure a Constitutional Crisis. To be clear, like many Republicans today, Mastriano has no care for the rule of law; it is all about power. I am skeptical of the idea that Trump will run again; however, I have no doubts that Mastriano will do what is necessary to ensure his party takes the White House should he become the Governor of Pennsylvania.
Many Democrats and even Republicans back in the early days of the 2016 primaries were laughing at Mr. Trump. Then he started winning, and Democrats took relief in that fact because many, myself included, thought that the American people would choose a sane individual over someone who was and continues to be mentally unstable. Then the unthinkable occurred, and Mr. Trump won. Mastriano can win in Pennsylvania. If that is the case, Mastriano can do a lot to ensure Republicans have the advantage to succeed in the next election.
Shapiro, the current Attorney General of Pennsylvania and now Democratic nominee, could have acted back after the terrorist attack on our nation's capital. Mastriano took part in the terrorist acts. Shapiro could have taken the route of investigating the Mastriano connection. It is important to note here also that Mastriano wasn't the only person running in the primaries who was in D.C. on the day our capital was attacked. Kathy Barnette was there, as was Lt. Governor Candidate Rick Saccone. Saccone didn't get anywhere in the primary. Barnette lost, but it is still important to note no formal investigation was opened by the current Attorney General of Pennsylvania. It will remain a mystery why no state investigations occurred into several high-profile individuals who took part in a violent coup attempt against our nation.
Both the Governor's race and the Senate Race in PA are toss-ups.
If Democrats lose in Pennsylvania, Democracy is in grave peril, more peril than it is at the time of writing this publication.
