MLK Day
As we celebrate Martin Luther King Day, we must be willing to confront the truth about our Democracy. MLK fought for Voting Rights for the masses, and he believed that healthcare is a human right, and he even dissented on the Vietnam war front. King was not someone who would sit on the sidelines and watch others do the difficult work of ensuring that Democracy expanded. Republicans today want Democracy to shrink. They believe that if Democracy shrinks so much, they will stand a chance at winning elections.
Those in the Senate should immediately pass the John Lewis Voting Rights Act, reach out to Republican moderates, and bring it to the finish line. The moment was created for a person like Joe Biden, Biden should pick up the phone and convince Senators Romney and Murkowski to come on board, and then Manchin and Sinema do not matter. Hell, call up Senator Collins and get the John Lewis Voting Rights Act passed.
