Shutdown
Blame it on the Senate
It appears the federal government is heading for another shutdown, and at the end of the day, if a shutdown occurs, blame it on the Senate. The Senate is a uniquely American institution that needs to be reformed but an institution that is wholly our own. Some suggest that since the Senate cannot work, it should be disbanded; this is not the correct position to take on an American institution.
It is similar to conversations about other institutions involving the American polity. Some have argued for abolishing the Supreme Court. While I believe that their arguments hold merit, I do not think most Americans would be willing to nullify the Supreme Court.
Some advice to the party currently in power: Go on offense. Start talking about how if the government is shut down, the Republican Party has decided not to play the game when it comes to COVID-19. Start asking the question, why does one party in America wish for more Americans to die? I go back to something that occurred during Mr. Trump’s reign of terror. It was and still is all about death, decay, and destruction for the current Republican Party.
