The Indictment
Some Thoughts
The rule of law has returned. This indictment is a necessary step toward accountability and justice. Those in positions of power must be held accountable for their actions, significantly when those actions harm the American people. Trump's alleged crimes violate the public trust, and his indictment is essential to restoring that trust.
The indictment of Trump serves as a reminder that no one is above the law. The United States is a nation built on the rule of law, and the indictment of Trump reinforces the idea that even the President is not immune to the consequences of his actions. This is a critical message to send, as it ensures that future leaders will understand that they are accountable to the American people.
I am not convinced that the indictments help Trump regarding the Republican primary. If many in the field would stop defending the norm-shattering former President, and start calling the criminality out for what it is, then the Republican Party could be back on the path of redemption. Most Americans want to see the former President and those in his administration held accountable.
