To 2021
We survived the year 2020 or what I've more commonly referred to as the lost year. We lost a lot in the year 2020; many people lost their loved ones, some lost their livelihoods. As a nation, we saw Progress rise out of the darkness of the previous four years. We still see a political agenda that scorches the Earth while attempting to maintain power as a legitimate political force in America. While reflecting on the previous year, we must remind ourselves of those who fell into poverty through no fault of their own. We must do all we can to lift every voice and to be the change agents we seek in the future.
There has never been a better opportunity to get involved in our Democracy. We are just days away from Georgia runoffs. If we can elect Jon Ossoff and Raphael Warnock, we will be one step closer to Franklin Delano Roosevelt's governing style.
Here is to the year 2021, in Frank Sinatra's words, "The Best is Yet to Come," and with that, we will soon have an administration that Gives A Damn about those people who need lifting out of poverty. We will finally be able to wake up in the morning and live up to the title of American, knowing that we have an administration that is actually going to look out for the American people and not just the wealthy.
We don't know what the year 2021 will bring. Still, hopefully, it will bring about the type of changes we need to see as a society, the changes that so many Americans voted for by electing Joe Biden and Kamala Harris to the White House. Hope and Progress are on the horizon; right now, we need to continue to practice social distancing, wearing a mask and making smart decisions.
