The disgraced former president Donald Trump lost in 2020, he lost in 2022, and he will lose in 2024. He likely will be the Republican nominee, and the Republican Party will fall in line. Some sane Republicans will stand up to Mr. Trump, and they will end up losing to Trump because the Republican base does not care about American policy nor American Democracy. Democracy is the hallmark of the American polity, which we've already realized from the Trump base. They don't care about Democracy; look at the January 6 insurrection at the nation's capital.
This leads to the following what does the Republican Party offer the American polity? They don't provide solutions; instead, it is something of a trait in our politics right now, and as much as I and others would love for it to end, it is not going to end any time soon. This trait is grievance. The Republican party is resentful all the time.
With Trump anywhere near the national ticket, Republicans will lose. Trump will lose in 2024 by an even wider margin than he lost in 2020. Trump cost the Republicans the elections of 2020 and 2022, and he will cost them the election in 2024.
