Trump's Authoritarian Crackdown on Harvard
A War on Academic Freedom
In a stunning escalation of his war on dissent, Donald Trump’s Department of Homeland Security has revoked Harvard University's certification to enroll international students. This draconian move forces nearly 6,800 international scholars to either transfer or face deportation—a chilling example of state overreach masquerading as national security.
The administration claims this action is justified by Harvard's alleged failure to combat antisemitism and vague accusations of ties to the Chinese Communist Party. But let’s be clear: this has nothing to do with student safety or national integrity. This is about power. It’s about punishing one of the few elite institutions that refuses to bend the knee to authoritarianism.
Trump’s DHS demanded that Harvard hand over extensive records on its international students, including those who have attended or even merely supported pro-Palestinian protests. They’ve threatened to strip Harvard of federal funding and revoke its nonprofit tax status. And they’re doing it all under the pretext of fighting hate.
But this isn’t about fighting hate. It’s about silencing speech.
It’s not just Harvard. This is part of a broader, calculated effort to target elite universities across the country. The administration’s so-called "Catch and Revoke" program—a dystopian initiative using AI to monitor student speech and punish international students for “pro-Hamas” views—only underscores the agenda: surveillance, suppression, and fear.
Harvard, to its credit, has refused to comply. The university has stood firm in protecting its students, its values, and the principles of academic freedom. Legal challenges are already in motion, and the stakes could not be higher.
Because this isn’t just about one university. This is about the future of education in the United States. This is about whether institutions of higher learning will remain places of inquiry, debate, and diversity—or become tools of the state.
We need to say this out loud: Banning international students from Harvard is not a policy disagreement. It is an act of authoritarianism.
This is a moment for solidarity. Civil rights organizations, educational institutions, students, faculty, and everyday Americans must not be silent. This is not the time for polite disagreement. It’s the time for resistance.
Because if they can do this to Harvard, they can do it to anyone.

abbreviated and sent to senators. Such hypocrisy; among the guests at trump's latest crypto scam dinner were white supremacists and KKK members who chanted racial and ethnic obscenities including F*CK THE JEWS.
