Democracy Worked
Trump Loses Bigly
First off if you read my piece discussing forecasting the midterm, I had some things wrong. I’ll acknowledge those races one being in my home state of Pennsylvania. The other race that I was off in was Nevada where Catherine Cortez Masto won. Democrats maintain control of the Senate, and the race for the House is neck and neck.
Democrats had a fantastic midterm election. The Democrats lost fewer seats in the House of Representatives than any Democratic president’s first midterm election in at least forty years. Democrats had the best midterms for Governors since 1986. Americans showed up for Democracy. The real loser of the week was the twice impeached disgraced former president Donald Trump.
Republicans need to figure out a different path. They need a different policy platform all together, if they decide to continue down the path of division they risk being a failed political party. If Trump announces that he is indeed seeking the White House again, they will see the voters in Georgia elect Warnock another term in the Senate. They will also deliver another term to President Biden if he chooses to seek the White House again.
Donald Trump is the real loser yet again. It is as if he likes losing, and losing bigly. I ponder whether Donald Trump and the Republican Party like losing so much; while they fail, the Republic Wins.
One other point is that the realignment still needs to be completed. MAGA republicanism is not dead yet. It is still alive and well. The Republican Party continues to be owned by one man, who alone is responsible for their losses.
